Companies to receive recognition at 30th Maine International Trade Day at the Samoset Resort in Rockport
The Maine International Trade Center is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Maine International Trade and Investment Awards. The companies will be recognized as part of the Trade Center’s annual Trade Day event, which will be held on June 3, 2010 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine.
The 2010 Exporter of the Year is Fluid Imaging Technologies of Yarmouth. Fluid Imaging’s signature product, the FlowCAM, is represented by 25 sales agency firms, covering every continent. FlowCAMs are currently used in 30 countries.
Sprague Energy Corporation, with facilities in South Portland and Searsport, is the 2010 Service Provider of the Year. Sprague is one of the largest suppliers of energy and materials handling services in New England. Sprague has been an important player in Maine’s economy due to recent capital expenditures in Maine, and diversification into renewable energy logistics.
Lighthouse Imaging Corporation of Portland is the 2010 International Innovator of the Year. Lighthouse Imaging is a leading developer and manufacturer of medical optical devices, concentrating in the area of minimally-invasive surgical products. The company was selected based on the advancements it has made in endoscope testing equipment, and its ability to proactively meet customer requirements in the medical field.
The 2010 International Investor of the Year is TransCanada of Calgary, Alberta, for their leadership in renewable energy and commitment to growing their business in Maine.
Ruth Greene, Vice President of Planning and Forecasting at UNUM, is the recipient of the 2010 President’s Award. Given for exceptional support to the Maine International Trade Center, Ms. Greene is being honored for her service as MITC’s board chair and for her vision of an internationally engaged economy for Maine.
Maine International Trade Day is northern New England’s largest international trade event, with over 200 attendees from Maine, New England, and eastern Canada. The 30th Trade Day, “Trade and Manufacturing: Strategies for Global Success” will feature speakers and panelists discussing how Maine companies have remained competitive by committing to innovation and overseas markets.
